Summary

The Forsaken are loose， the Horn of Valere has been found and the Dead are rising from their dreamless sleep。 The Prophecies are being fulfilled - but Rand al'Thor， the shepherd the Aes Sedai have proclaimed as the Dragon Reborn， desperately seeks to escape his destiny。

Glad to finally be going through this massive series。 Mostly read The Great Hunt via the incredibly well done audiobook read by Michael Kramer and Kate Reading， who I greatly appreciate and admire both as a fellow voice actor， and a fantasy fan。It'll be a long journey to get to the end of WoT， and I definitely plan on sprinkling other books in between these。 But I'm really enjoying the journey thus far。 Glad to finally be going through this massive series。 Mostly read The Great Hunt via the incredibly well done audiobook read by Michael Kramer and Kate Reading， who I greatly appreciate and admire both as a fellow voice actor， and a fantasy fan。It'll be a long journey to get to the end of WoT， and I definitely plan on sprinkling other books in between these。 But I'm really enjoying the journey thus far。 。。。more

I enjoyed the second book of the series a lot more than the first。 With the different perspectives， I felt like I always had questions， and wanted to know more， which kept me reading。 The imagery does a great job to help with the world-building， and you become really invested in the main character's overall wellbeing。 There were a couple of points where I wondered how it would even be possible for everything and everyone to come back together， and when it did， it made perfect sense。 I enjoyed the second book of the series a lot more than the first。 With the different perspectives， I felt like I always had questions， and wanted to know more， which kept me reading。 The imagery does a great job to help with the world-building， and you become really invested in the main character's overall wellbeing。 There were a couple of points where I wondered how it would even be possible for everything and everyone to come back together， and when it did， it made perfect sense。 。。。more

4 starsAnother three days， another book that could squash any pet smaller than a chihuahua （if I wasn't reading it on my kindle， that is） down。 And the second book sure does deliver on the promises of the first！Nothing is happening how I expected， thinks Rand al'Thor at the start of The Great Hunt。 For a book about a giant mystical wheel that literally weaves the fate of every character， there are a lot of surprises， not least of which the fact that the hero-destined-from-birth trope isn't at al 4 starsAnother three days， another book that could squash any pet smaller than a chihuahua （if I wasn't reading it on my kindle， that is） down。 And the second book sure does deliver on the promises of the first！Nothing is happening how I expected， thinks Rand al'Thor at the start of The Great Hunt。 For a book about a giant mystical wheel that literally weaves the fate of every character， there are a lot of surprises， not least of which the fact that the hero-destined-from-birth trope isn't at all irritating or cliché here。 The book works for it。Despite the twists and turns， the plot doesn't feel at all contrived; whatever a character does， it makes sense， and always links to something earlier in the books。 You can really feel the threads of what's to come in future books unspooling。 The character development is also great， as are the battles and intrigues that kept me up well past my bedtime - but can the series keep it up？The Great Hunt feels a bit like the second book in a trilogy。 It could be that I'm just too used to consuming books in sets of three to envisage what happens after the next book， so I'm interested to see how Jordan maintains character growth and plot escalation throughout thirteen （！！！） more books。 All in all， apart from some slightly irritating moments， another slightly rushed ending， and the sudden development of a love triangle which is looking more like a love pentagon at the moment， this book is a very solid 4 stars。Onto the next！ 。。。more

I thought the 2nd book in the series performed much better than the first。 The world felt more fleched out， in addition to the main characters。 The plot was more complex， with multiple storylines happening at once， and I found that the new locations and people visited were more exotic and interesting。 Additionally， I loved how Jordan further developed the magic system， especially the descriptions of saidin。 Overall， I thought it was a fun read， but it was not a masterpiece。 Most plot twists felt I thought the 2nd book in the series performed much better than the first。 The world felt more fleched out， in addition to the main characters。 The plot was more complex， with multiple storylines happening at once， and I found that the new locations and people visited were more exotic and interesting。 Additionally， I loved how Jordan further developed the magic system， especially the descriptions of saidin。 Overall， I thought it was a fun read， but it was not a masterpiece。 Most plot twists felt predictable， and I was still not a fan of how Jordan's romance elements were written。 They usually felt forced， especially the multiple characters fantasizing over Rand after minimal engagement。 。。。more

bien gracias） y le dicen a Rand que es EL DRAGON RENACIDO。 Por supuesto que el no lo cree y siente que todas estas mujeres lo que quieren utilizar como un Falso Dragon， pero ellas "son buenas" y lo dejan ir y ser。 Luego de esto llega un montón de trollocs y Fados y hay una batalla super loca， y es alli donde se roban el Cuerno de Valere （que es un cuerno que al sonarlo llama a héroes ancestrales para la batalla） y junto a eso la daga de Mat， todo esto es liderado por Padan Fain。 Y aqui， es donde comienza "la gran caseria" ya que un montón de hombre junto a Rand， Mar， Perrin y Loial van en la busca de estos objetos。 Las mujeres se dirigen hacia Tar Valon。Mientras los hombres están en la búsqueda， conocemos a Hurin， el husmeador， que tiene la habilidad de oler el mal （muy conveniente para la trama） y a Ingtar quien es el líder de la misión。 Mat y Perrin se enteran que Rand puede encausar el Poder Único， y como buenos amigos que son， se alejan de el。Así que， en una de la noches de esta misión， mientras Rand dormía， alejado de sus amigos， se transporta a otro mundo por medio de una Piedra junto a Loial y Hurin。 Este mundo es parecido al de el pero mas muerto y mas oscuro ？。 Mientras esta allí se encuentran con una damisela en peligro llamada Selene。 （QUIEN ES ELLA？）， solo se sabe que es muy bella que hipnotiza y manipula （Por que？）， además puede encauzar el poder pero no es una Aes Sedai。 Ella le dice a Rand que al encontrar el Cuerno de Valere， el tendrá grandeza y poder y podrá estar con ella， adicional casi lo obliga a encauzar el Poder para salir de allí （que lo deje en paz）， Rand lo hace y se da cuenta que este mundo sirvió como atajo y que esta mucho mas adelantado que lo demás en cuanto a camino。 （Al final nos enteramos que Selene en realidad es Lanfear una renegada， que pertenece al bando de lo malos， y también sabemos que fue pareja/amante de Lews Therin， el dragón en la Era de la Leyenda， creo）Al regresar a su mundo， se dan cuenta que han recorrido mucho tramo en poco tiempo， así que esperan a que Fain pase con el Cuerno y la daga， y sin mucho esfuerzo Rand y Loial consiguen los objetos， aquí Selene otra vez vuelve a manipular a Rand para que se quede con cuerno y tenga toda esta grandeza， pero a el no le interesa。 Así， que llegan a la ciudad de donde es Selene llamada Cairhien， en donde si el quererlo se involucra en el Juego de la Casa， una semana después llega Ingtar， Mat， Perrin y los demás， justo después de que Fain y sus trollocs enciendan la posada donde estaba Rand y se vuelven a robar el cuerno y la Daga。 （esta parte， meh， no me gusto， y no le vi mucho sentido a que Rand participara en esto， y si， van a un fiesta y en esta el obtiene información sobre Fain， pero la pudo obtener de una forma mas simple。。。tambien aparece Thom， pero el me da igual así que next）。 Así que vuelven a la casería del Cuerno y la Daga。Por el Juego de las Casas， Rand llega a ir a una fiesta donde obtiene información de Fain， y se entera que debe ir a Seanchan/Falme （super confuso） y aquí vuelve a usar una de estas Piedras que funciona como atajo， para llegar a tiempo。 Llegan 4 meses después， pero en este proceso todo los que están logran ver muchas vida。 （Esto me pareció increíble， ver toda las vidas en la que Rand decidía diferentes caminos， y en la que las que siempre terminaba muerto， loco， cansado y el Oscuro ganaba）。Ahora， hablemos de las mujeres， Nynaeve y Egwene， ella dos viajan a Tar Valon， a la torre Blanca para comenzar sus estudio y convertirse en Aes Sedai， cada noche una Aes Sedai les enseña a encausar el Poder， Nynaeve lo usa muy de emociones， mientras Egwene lo encausa lentamente。 Llegan a la Torre Blanca y allí las recibe Sherim quien será su mentora。 Nynaeve por su edad será una aceptada， así que le hacen una prueba donde debe entrar en unos aros y enfrentarse a sus pasado， presente y futuro。 （Esto fue muy increíble y me encanto， super bien escrito y super emocional， sobre todo cuando se encuentra a Lan 💔）。 Luego siguen los entrenamientos， aquí todo， es como un convento de Aes Sedai。Egwene conoce a Elayne y se reencuentran con Min， y las cuatro mujeres establecen una amistad， hasta que llega Liandrin， y les dice que Rand esta en problema y deben ir a salvarlo， así que ellas van， y se les unen Elayne y Min。 Utilizan los Atajos， y llegan a Falme， y allí son interceptadas/atacadas por un grupo de personas que esclavizan a las Aes Sedai， Nynaeve （quien tira rayos y fuegos） y Elayne logran escapar， pero Egwene es esclavizada。 En Falme existen las sul'dam y las damane， las sul'dam utilizan uno brazaletes con cadena hasta uno collares que se los ponen a Aes Sedai， o cualquier mujer capaz de encauzar el poder， para así， ser ellas la dueñas del poder。 El collar es una locura y las mujeres que la tienen literal son como unos perritos。 （Super interesante， toda la trama de Nynaeve， Egwene， Min y Elayne fue super interesante）Nynaeve， Elayne y Min hacen un plan para buscar a Egwene el cual les sale a la perfección （porque Reinas）， ya que Nynaeve logra quitar el collar con el Poder Único。 Así que las cuatro mujeres salen y aquí comienza la batalla final de este libro。De la batalla， no describiré todo pero estuvo fantástica， todo estuvo muy bien escrito， la descripción de la pelea， los poderes， los personajes。 Sin comentarios。。。 Y si el libro se hace lento creo que con el final es una super recompensa。 Así que， los hombre logran dar con el Cuerno， y aquí Rand tiene una pelea con uno de los lideres seanchan （super bien descrita， obvio）， que termina con la muerte de Augusto Señor （uno de los lideres）， todo el pueblo se comporta super extraño， logran escapar y aquí hay otra batalla interna en la ciudad de los Capas Blanca con el ejercito Seanchan （no entendí mucho， super confuso） así que Mat toca el Cuerno y aquí llegan todos los guerreros ancestrales （y que puedo decir， super cool） y todos se van a la batalla， aquí otra vez Rand se enfrenta con el Oscuro， pero su batalla es el cielo。 Así， que todos lo pueden ver y esta es la mejor forma de que todo el mundo se entere que el Dragon is back。 El libro termia con un Rand herido y confuso y con Moraine （que salió tres segundo en el libro） explicándole todo lo acontecido， las mujeres， junto a Mat vuelven a Tar Valon， y los demás se quedan con Rand， quien acepta que es el Dragon。 （Min se queda con Rand， porque de repente ella se enamora de el？）TOP DE PERSONAJES:1。 Nynaeve: REINA， es increíble y super fuerte， todo las y escenas de Nynaeve me encantaron， y siento que su forma de pensar siempre es la correcta。2。 Rand: Por supuesto， es el protagonista de esta historia， y en este libro se basa mucho en su negación a ser el Dragon， es todo un viaje a la aceptación de su destino， y de que no hay escapatoria， eres el Dragon。 3。 Loial: Es el gigante mas genuino y dulce que hay， de verdad， Loial es un personaje que todo el mundo debe querer， Amigo Ogier forever。IN-TOP DE PERSONAJES:1。 Lanfear: Simplemente， no entendí。 Que hizo ella ahí？ y yo se que ella quiere a Rand y que es una de las villanas， y descubrir que Selene era Lanfear， estuvo bien， pero。。。 Quien es Lanfear？ 2。 Verin: La Aes Sedai que los acompaña en los viajes， simplemente insoportable， además， es buena？ es mala？ que quiere de Rand？， no se pero sospechosa。 3。 Ingtar: Fue el líder de la misión， y era un Amigo Siniestro， también murió。 Esta bien， bye。 Con el o sin el， creo que nada de la trama hubiera cambiado。 Meh。 4。 Geofram Birnhald: Papi。。 quien eres tu y que hiciste aquí？ Toda su trama fue super confusa y sin sentido （lo tengo que releer） también murió y no me importa en los absoluto。 Meh。 。。。more

Achtung Spoiler für Band 1Die erste Schlacht gegen die Mächte der Finsternis konnten die Helden gewinnen。 Am Auge der Welt haben sie neben dem Banner des Drachen auch das sagenhafte Horn von Valere gefunden。 Allerdings währt der Sieg nicht lange: bei einem Überfall durch Shadowspawn und Schattenfreunden wird das Horn von eben jenen gestohlen。 Zusammen mit dem magischen Dolch der Mats Lebenskraft an sich gebunden hat。 Also machen sich Rand， Mat und Perrin zusammen mit einer Gruppe wackerer Soldat Achtung Spoiler für Band 1Die erste Schlacht gegen die Mächte der Finsternis konnten die Helden gewinnen。 Am Auge der Welt haben sie neben dem Banner des Drachen auch das sagenhafte Horn von Valere gefunden。 Allerdings währt der Sieg nicht lange: bei einem Überfall durch Shadowspawn und Schattenfreunden wird das Horn von eben jenen gestohlen。 Zusammen mit dem magischen Dolch der Mats Lebenskraft an sich gebunden hat。 Also machen sich Rand， Mat und Perrin zusammen mit einer Gruppe wackerer Soldaten aus den Grenzlanden auf den Weg das Horn zu finden （erneut）。 Nynaeve und Egwene drücken erst mal die Schulbank für Hexerei und Zauberei äh ich meinte für die fachgerechte Anwendung der Einen Macht。 Moiraine und Lan sind leider einen Großteil der Handlung abwesend， aber am Ende treffen sich ja sowieso alle Handlungsstränge wieder。In diesem Band erfährt man etwas mehr über die politischen Zusammenhänge in der Welt， aber leider nur im Vorbeigehen。 Leider werden dann auch die sporadischen Kämpfe gegen die Trollocs und Co ein bisschen redundant， aber sonst ist das Abenteuer der männlichen Emondsfielder eine unterhaltsame Quest。Den Unterricht der werten Zicken äh Damen in Tar Valon fällt dann doch etwas zu langweilig bzw。 zu uninteressant aus， eben weil gefühlt die Struktur des örtlichen Bildungssystem fehlt。 （Ja ich bin so ein Nerd der schon ein bisschen genaueres darüber wissen will， wenn ein Zauberschule ein Teil des Settings ist。） Und die Aes Sedai。。。 ach du meine Götter。 Und ich dachte schon Egwene und Nynaeve wären herrisch （wobei man das bei Nynaeve aufgrund ihrer ehemaligen Stellung in Emondsfield echt gut verstehen kann）。 Glücklicherweise nimmt auch hier die Handlung irgendwann wieder Fahrt auf。Die Zusammenführung der Handlungsstränge zu einem einzigen großen Höhepunkt wirkt zwar etwas gezwungen aber dieses Finale ist wirklich episch。 Was die Charaktere angeht fand ich vor allem die Entwicklung und die inneren Konflikte von Rand und Perrin am interessantesten。 Beide haben Kräfte und Talente entdeckt， die sie von anderen Menschen unterscheiden。 Aber anstatt ein "Cool wir sind mächtig" kommt von beiden ein "Nein。 Bitte nicht。 Das kann nicht sein。" Das mag jetzt an meiner persönlichen Erfahrung liegen， aber gerade dieses Hadern und Zweifeln erlauben dann doch eine "queere" Auslegung über Leute die kurz vorm Coming out sind und es nicht wahrhaben wollen。Vor allem Rands Dilemma mit dem Wiedergeborenen Drachen und seine Weigerung sein Schicksal zu akzptieren sind verständlich。 Da kommt jemand und sagt zu dir， dass die Welt retten musst。 Und noch mehr: du bist im Fadenkreuz der wortwörtlichen Teufels， die Magie wird dich wahnsinnig machen， wenn du versagst geht die Welt unter und andere erlauben sich noch ein Urteil über dich zu fällen。 Zudem versuchen Leute dir dann auch noch Verantwortung auf zu Zwingen und gängeln dich tagein tagaus。 Wer würde da bitte nicht durchdrehen？ Fazit: Besser als das erste Buch， das Pacing ist aber immer noch etwas zu langsam （das bleibt dann leider auch in den Folgebänden so）， 。。。more

This book is quite an improvement from the first book。 It is as the title suggests， a hunt that covers most of the book。 The pace is decent and usually somewhat exciting。In the beginning of the series I wasn't very convinced into taking the whole thing seriously for a while， and while I have come around to generally enjoying it， I don't think I will enjoy it as much as some other series。The main characters may be a bit silly at times， and showing no sign of letting go of their immaturity and stu This book is quite an improvement from the first book。 It is as the title suggests， a hunt that covers most of the book。 The pace is decent and usually somewhat exciting。In the beginning of the series I wasn't very convinced into taking the whole thing seriously for a while， and while I have come around to generally enjoying it， I don't think I will enjoy it as much as some other series。The main characters may be a bit silly at times， and showing no sign of letting go of their immaturity and stubbornness just yet， but they have something generally likeable about them even if I'm not overly attached to them so far。 There was a small amount of the book dedicated to other pov characters which were required to do some scene setting or other plot setup for later which was always not very engaging for me。 I understand why this is needed and I know the majority of the time is dedicated to the main characters so I can handle that。I've enjoyed this book enough to want to continue to the 3rd book without a break， so that's clearly a good sign。 The series is so big in the fantasy book fandom that I want to give it a solid go。 Just taking it one book at a time， with breaks inbetween if required and no pressure go fast or finish the whole series unless I want to。 。。。more

Przeznaczenie gra z bohaterami。 Intrygi， tajemnice， legendy， monstra， inne światy oraz kultury。 Bohaterowie - tutaj nadal mam trochę zgrzytów。 Wolałabym， aby bardziej był ukazany Perrin i Mat。 Przede wszystkim Mat。 Jaką rolę w tym wszystkim odgrywa。 Na początku Rand mnie irytował， ale ma to uzasadnienie。 Kobiece bohaterki są zdecydowanie najlepsze: Moiarne lub Nynaeve - świetne。Z wielką przyjemnością sięgnę po kolejny tom。

Significantly better climax than book 1 in my opinion。 Still some convenient plot devices that lower the stakes ever so slightly but this book still kept me glued to the page and all but guaranteed I will see the series through til the end。 So many characters I’m already fully invested in。

While I enjoyed the first book， I feel like this one has aged more gracefully。 It has been a while since I read it so it was almost like reading it for the first time。 I’m looking forward to continuing with the series。

The beginning was quite slow， but that was fine in the long run as it helped build up some characters。The story deepens and more of the world as well as the magic system was presented。 Although I still can't say that I even begin to understand what is possible for Aes Sedai。I especially liked the references to parallel worlds and the hidden sci-fi elements in so called artifacts。It was still very difficult to build up trust for all characters who did not come from Emond's Field。 The shadow frien The beginning was quite slow， but that was fine in the long run as it helped build up some characters。The story deepens and more of the world as well as the magic system was presented。 Although I still can't say that I even begin to understand what is possible for Aes Sedai。I especially liked the references to parallel worlds and the hidden sci-fi elements in so called artifacts。It was still very difficult to build up trust for all characters who did not come from Emond's Field。 The shadow friend paranoia sometimes feels very real。I also have to say how excited I am about Nynaeve。 I can remember that the first time I read the book， I found her personality it incredibly annoying。 This time around she is easily one of my favorites。The constant reminder that the wheel is turning and weaving as intended and that all plot conveniences are automatically declared fateful was still a little too much for me。 I find the concept of great civilizations coming and going， to be replaced by something new very exciting。 However， characters who are forced to act a certain way and constantly announce that they are not a puppet， can eventually become disrupting。What I really liked is that， despite the massive world， a red thread runs through one entire book。 Even at various locations and side plots， it's always about achieving the main task that the adventurers have agreed on。I fully support Loial and his opinion that it is exciting to follow ta'veren， you can constantly see how people who come into contact with the shepherds get caught up in dangerous situations。 Which is very entertaining。 。。。more

More of the same。 Perfect in every way。If you loved The Eye of the World， then you will also love The Great Hunt， it does not do what some do， it has the same feeling， the same rich and beautiful world， the same characters， the same everything， this does not disappoint， in the slightest。
